Alexis Bass takes "Best of Show"

Alexis has completed an associate of science program with the Institute of Art in Pittsburgh, PA.

Miss Bass presented a sampling of work and greeted potential employers and family members on Friday the 19th, of September. All of her hard work finally paid off as she was presented with the best of show award in her program. We are all very proud of her accomplishment's!

Alexis took me on a tour of Pittsburgh, mostly the South side. This town is the busiest of any city that I have been in. We stopped for dinner at the famous Primanti Bros. restaurant to get a huge coleslaw and Angus with fries sandwich. A complete meal in one! We then went over to get a custom coffee at the Crazy Mocha coffee house. It was all very good, except for the driving. It seems we were always driving around town when a Pirates baseball game was letting out.

The Upper Falls

Here is a Pano of the Tahquamenon Falls with Kai at the right hand side attempting to get me to stop taking photos. This was the last photo I was able to grab. Beautiful weather! This photo would have been much better later in the evening.

New Images from the Riverwalk Gallery

goose_0002 (Small) I try to get down to our local river every now and again.  This last week I caught some great photos of geese.  Here are a couple of them.goose_0001 (Small)  Go to my gallery web page at http://finelight.photoshop.com

to view them larger.  There is quite a diverse animal kingdom on our river.  With everything from swans to muskrat.  I've even seen kingfishers close enough to the trail to view.  Maybe I'll be lucky enough to photograph them.

Air Zoo Field Trip

I chaperoned my Son's field trip to the Kalamazoo Air Zoo on March 13th.  We had a great time with moon walking, (entirely different from the Michael Jackson method) and the many rides offered there.  There was also a class that explained some of the physics of flight.  Here is a photo of Kai at the air zoo.air zoo (Small) You can watch some of the education information from my you tube upload here and here.

Snowstorm in Michigan

We had quite a week of winter weather with about another five inches of new snow dumped on us.  It looks to be more of the same next week.  I wish I had a snowmobile to enjoy but it is just not worth the cost with the past winter snow fall amounts.  We are looking forward to spring that's for sure!  Check out our link to our backyard weather station!  You will only see weather information when the station is up and running, so check back often. Here's the link......Bass Weather.  We do try to run the software through most of day and the information is a live reading.  I will post some photos of it in the near future. To get back to the blog, use your browser back arrow.  If you want to view the Bass Photography site, click on the "home" link from the weather page.

Christmas at the Bass's 2007

Alexis came up from Pittsburgh to visit with us and brought boyfriend Mike. We had a nice visit on the 23rd with Mike and Alexis including one by Mother Nature as a storm with blizzard conditions came through. We lost electricity several times that morning. Here are couple of videos of Kai and Alexis taken the day after Christmas.

I know that there is not much video here but everyone in the family has pretty much had it with me and my need to film everything so they clam up when I get the camera out! I will post what I can when I get it though. Alexis should graduate with an Associates degree in the fall of 2008 and hopefully on to her masters. Kai is going in for surgery on January 8th to have his tonsils and adenoids out along with correction for a deviated septum. I will be off for the first week in January to lend a hand. New Years Eve gave us another snow storm with an additional five inches of snow and flocked all the trees pretty good. I will post a few of those photos soon. At least I know that the trees and snow won't mind having their image made. That's it for now. I will return with more photos and write soon.
